In celebration of March and the arrival of Spring, I'd like to talk about one of my favourite jewellery redesign projects featuring a beautiful aquamarine, March's birthstone.
Spring is the perfect time for cleaning and up-cycling - including your jewellery box. While most of our custom jewellery projects are designed from scratch, we can also restyle a favourite piece into something fresh and exciting, as we did with this beautiful aquamarine ring.
Our client brought us 2 rings, an aquamarine ring set in a traditional design and a uniquely carved gold band. She loved the stone but its setting was no longer her style. She also loved the carved ring but no longer wore it as a band. We carefully extracted the aquamarine from its original setting. We then created a new bezel frame to fit it perfectly on the carved band.
As we often do, we also extracted the small diamonds on the original aquamarine setting and set them aside for a future project. The gold from the original aquamarine ring was sold and we applied all of its proceeds towards the restyled ring.
The result was a new ring design that our client will wear often. It perfectly combines the design elements she loves the most - the aquamarine and the carved design. This new ring is both bold and contemporary - a true original, just like its owner.
