Some jewellery projects stay with me forever — and this one absolutely did.
A client came to me with a very special idea: she wanted to create a custom pendant using her dog Parker’s actual paw print. Not a generic paw-shaped charm, but Parker’s real paw, captured with all the tiny textures and details that made it uniquely his.
I instantly loved the idea.
This is the story of how we transformed Parker’s paw print into a custom gold pendant filled with meaning and memory.
Creating a Custom Paw Print Jewellery Process
One of the biggest challenges with custom pet paw print jewellery is capturing enough detail to make the final piece feel truly personal.
We explored several different methods before landing on the approach that worked best. I wanted the finished pendant to preserve the soft texture and natural contours of Parker’s paw as beautifully as possible.
So I created a custom paw impression kit for my client to use at home.
Inside the kit were several pieces of highly malleable jeweller’s wax that could be gently warmed and pressed against Parker’s paw. I intentionally included multiple waxes because I wanted her to have several opportunities to experiment and capture the clearest impression possible.
Honestly, every single print turned out beautifully.
But together, we selected the strongest impression — the one with the crispest detail and the most natural texture — to transform into jewellery.

Casting Parker’s Paw Print Into a Custom Gold Pendant
Once we finalized the paw print impression, I cast it in solid 14-karat gold.
What I loved most about the finished piece was how organic it felt. You could still see all the tiny details from Parker’s paw, which gave the pendant so much personality and warmth.
It didn’t feel like mass-produced jewellery.
It felt personal.
It felt emotional.
And that’s always my favourite kind of custom jewellery to create.
My client loved the result so much that we decided to cast the second-best impression in sterling silver as well. That way, she could wear Parker’s paw print with silver jewellery too, while also having a beautiful backup version of the piece.
The gold and silver versions each had their own personality, and together they became incredibly meaningful keepsakes.

What Can Be Created With Custom Paw Prints?
One of the things I love most about this process is how versatile it is.
Custom pet paw print impressions can be transformed into so many different types of jewellery and keepsakes, including:
- Custom dog paw print pendants
- Paw print necklaces
- Bracelet charms
- Paw print earrings
- Paw print cufflinks
Because every impression is taken directly from your own pet, every piece becomes completely one-of-a-kind.
Some clients may want to celebrate a pet who is still happily by their side. Others may want to preserve the memory of a beloved companion through custom memorial jewellery. Either way, the result feels deeply personal and impossible to replicate.
Here’s What to Expect From the Process
If you’re not sure where to start, the process is actually very approachable.
1. Design Consultation
We begin with a design phone call to discuss the type of jewellery you’d like to create including important details such as size, metal, and overall style preferences.
2. Paw Print Impression Kit
I create a custom wax impression kit specifically for your project. The wax is soft, easy to work with, and designed to capture beautiful detail safely at home.
3. Selecting the Best Paw Print
Once the impressions are complete, we review them together and choose the strongest print for casting.
4. Casting & Craftsmanship
The selected paw print impression is professionally cast into precious metal and carefully finished into wearable jewellery.
5. Final Delivery
The final piece becomes a completely custom keepsake created from your pet’s actual paw print.
Why I Love Creating Jewellery Like This
Some of my favourite custom jewellery projects are the ones connected to emotion and memory.
Whether I’m redesigning heirloom jewellery, creating a custom engagement ring, or transforming a pet’s paw print into jewellery, I love helping clients create pieces that feel deeply personal and meaningful.
Parker’s pendant was such a beautiful reminder that jewellery can hold memories in an incredibly tangible way.
Tiny details can mean everything.
